The TeethReconstructionSystem abbreviated ZRS according to dental technician master Manfred Wiedmann

Manfred Wiedmann, dental technician master, has been developing this ZRS for years during his research and has it protected by patent. ZRS is academically attended by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Stüttgen of the Düsseldorf University. A doctoral thesis is presently being written about the results.

Replacing natural teeth by an artificial dental prosthesis is no problem as long as the initial template and pictures of the original situation are still available. The reconstruction of missing, destroyed and/or abraded teeth, however, is problematic if no such templates or pictures can be provided. In this case, the teeth to be replaced are produced in terms of shape, size and tooth position on the basis of estimations and existing space. This involves the risk that due to incorrect tooth shape, tooth size and tooth position the outer appearance of the patient is rather disadvantageous after the incorporation of his fixed or removable dental prosthesis.

On the basis of a frontal picture of the face, the ZRS software calculates the original shape of the front teeth, their relation in size and the position of the upper front teeth.
The only size which is required is the width of the nose base.

This size can very simply be determined with the FormSelector of IVOCLAR VIVADENT:

The graph tablet marks the contour of the face on a picture. The following points are then highlighted with the mouse or the graph tablet.

  1. The centre point of the forehead
  2. The centre of both pupils
  3. The width of the root of the nose
  4. The width of the nose base
  5. Nose point (there are four different positions)
  6. The angle resulting from the bottom boundary of the alar wing of the nose and the nose point
  7. Both corners of the mouth (closing line of the lips)
  8. The centre of the chin
On the basis of these points and lines entered in the ZRS, the system calculates the front teeth set for the removable dental prosthesis or the wax facets to be used for WaxUp. The teeth supplied by CANDULOR or IVOCLAR VIVADENT are scanned in the program as tailored front teeth while the wax facets from the CALLAplus system of TEAMZIEREIS are stored for fixed dental prostheses.

First, the program recommends the even array of features. The individual position resulting from the input


of face features can be easily implemented by clicking the programmed buttons.

On a picture of the patient with smiling mouth, his previous tooth care is cut out with the graph tablet, and the constructive front teeth array is inserted into the mouth. The tooth colour can be changed according to the patient's request, i.e. each tooth can be dyed from bright to dark or vice versa using the conventional V colours from A1 to D4.

The patient is provided with three array variants: a regular one, a slightly individual one and a very individual one. These three variants are printed out, and the patient can take these pictures home to discuss them with his partner. Thus, he is not only provided with a therapy and cost plan which does not show much but he can see before the treatment how he will look like with his new teeth. As the articulator gives us an indication for teeth length, front tooth line and horizontal alignment, the proposed array is transferred using the cranial system. Thus, functional and aesthetic dental prostheses of ultimate quality are produced with ZRS and the cranial system.
